We have had a busy week! On Tuesday a college student from UVM came to our class to talk about nutrition. We talked about how important it is to have a healthy breakfast to begin each day. Some of us made posters showing healthy breakfast choices.
This week we wrapped up our guided reading groups. We all read something about our solar system. When we return from vacation, we will begin new groups!
To end our unit on the solar system, we made posters that showed all the planets, our moon and the sun. We also had to write about a change that happens in our solar system. Some changes are seasons, day and night and Pluto not being a planet. Ask me about something I have learned about our solar system!
During math class we used the Smartboard to practice rounding numbers and breaking numbers apart. The Smartboard gave us a chance to move numbers around and explore numbers in a hands on way. Math class flew by! Some of us went on Study Island to practice our computation. Mrs. Lumbra joined us to give us some test taking strategies. When we return from vacation we will begin learning multiplication and division. Mrs. Sullivan would like us to continue to practice the subtraction strategies we learned.
Friday was our vocal music concert! We sang four songs and even played a song on the drums. Oreo thought we looked and sounded great!
One thing we are proud of is our contribution to Operation Holiday Homecoming. Our class has organized patriotic braclet sales with all profits to bring soldiers home for the holiday season. We have been busy collecting orders, inputing data into a spread sheet and distributing bracelets.
Have a peaceful and joyful Thanksgiving!
